How to Split a PDF and Remove Unwanted Pages

A long PDF often contains pages you do not need to send, such as a cover sheet, a blank page, or an old version of a form. Sending only the needed pages makes your file smaller and easier to check.

Step by step

1. Open the PDF and note the page numbers you need, for example pages 2 to 4. 2. To keep only some pages, open Split PDF and type the range, for example 2-4. 3. To drop a few pages, open Remove PDF Pages and choose the pages to remove. 4. Download the new PDF and open it to check that the right pages are there and nothing important is missing. 5. Keep the original PDF until the new file is accepted.

Tips

Write page numbers down before you start, because it is easy to remove the wrong page when pages look similar. If a document has a table of contents, check it against the new PDF after you finish. Do not remove a page that contains a signature, a stamp, or a terms section unless you are sure it is not needed.

Frequently asked questions

Does splitting change my text? No, it only keeps or removes whole pages. Can I split a password-protected PDF? No, a protected file cannot be processed in a browser tool, and you should not try to unlock someone else's protected file. Why did my range fail? Check that the page numbers exist in the original file and that the range is written correctly, for example 1-3,5.
